We were recently featured on the fantastic music podcast Chicago Acoustic Underground, hosted by Michael Teach. The CAU podcast features so many great artists from the Chicago music scene, although we were one of the few jazz groups to come play on the show. Michael told us about his love for jazz since he was a kid and was excited to finally have some jazz on his show. In the episode we talk about Chicago music venues, our favorite musicians, puppets, and we play a few tunes from "Defuser."
We are excited to announce that we are once again performing at Uncommon Ground, and will be featuring another amazing vocalist, Demi Michalopoulos! This time around we are paying tribute to Amy Winehouse and will be playing an entire set of her music with Demi.
This is a special event you don't want to miss, so make to sure to reserve your seats ASAP! We look forward to seeing all of you there to celebrate the great music of Amy Winehouse with us.
We had such a great time at our release party with our good friend Sam Trump that we are bringing in yet another special guest to play with The Giving Trio: Candace Washburn!
Candace Washburn is a jazz singer on the Chicago music scene and an alumna of University of North Texas. She is also the lead singer for hipster-gypsy-jazz extraordinaires LePercolateur.
We will be playing at the High-Hat Club (1920 W Irving Park Rd) on Saturday, April 16th from 10pm-12am. Our sets will include a great variety of both jazz standards and classic pop tunes, including songs from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Nancy Wilson & Cannonball Adderley, and the Jackson 5. You don't want to miss this awesome collaboration, so come on out!
What a night Sunday was! We are ever grateful to be able to share our music with so many wonderful people, so thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. Also, many thanks to Sam Trump for playing with us on our second set. It was an absolute pleasure to make music with such a talented performer and good friend. Go check out more of what Sam's up to here, and watch the first video from our set with him below!
Also, if you missed your chance to pre-order a copy of "Defuser" or you weren't able to come out to our release party, but still want one for yourself, don't fear. The album just went up on iTunes and you can get it by clicking here. We will also have CDs available at every one of our shows, so if you'd like to pick up a physical copy of "Defuser" come up to us and say hello!
Stay tuned for more videos of our set with Sam, we'll be releasing them in the weeks to come :)
We officially funded our "Defuser" Kickstarter campaign over the weekend!!! To all of you who donated or helped to spread the word about the campaign, thank you, thank you, thank you!! We could not have done this without you, and we can't wait to get the album and your rewards to you.
But wait, there's more.... We have a date set for our release show!! So get out your calendars and mark this down:
Sunday, March 13 7pm-9pm @ Uncommon Ground (1401 W Devon Ave, Chicago, Illinois 60660)
Also make sure to reserve your seats for the show, which you can do right here.
There will be two sets, and the first set will feature all of our original material from "Defuser." And if that isn't awesome enough, we also have the pleasure of featuring a very special guest performer on our second set, Sam Trump!
So many awesome things going on right now, and there are still more to come! Stay tuned.
Hello everyone! First of all, welcome to our brand-spankin'-new website. Take a minute to look around and take in the scenery. Much thanks to Dorey Kronick for designing it! (you can check out more of her work here). We've also got a few goodies for you that we'll be posting on the site very soon, so keep checking back and like us on Facebook to be updated when new content is available.
Second, and more importantly, we have just officially launched the Kickstarter for our first full-length record, "Defuser." We are so excited to share our original music with all of you, so go pre-order your copy of "Defuser" now! The other way you can greatly help our project is to spread the word about it. All it takes is a simple facebook, twitter, or instagram post, so don't be shy! Let all your friends know that you dig the Giving Trio so we can share our music with even more people.
We're very excited for the release! Stay tuned for more info.
